Engineering Access Policy

Public previews are not the same as controlled engineering files.

Controlled Access protects native CAD, full drawings, internal BOM, supplier-sensitive records, traceability records and compliance document request material while still giving engineering teams a path to request what they need.

Review Engineering Files

Why review is required

Some documents carry supplier, traceability or system-integration sensitivity.

A request may enter pending_review when the file type could expose native CAD, full drawings, internal BOM, supplier-sensitive records, original STEP/STP files or compliance and traceability records. Approval is tied to sourcing and integration context, not to a public download button.

Review context needed

  • Work email and company identity
  • SKU, series, application or subsystem context
  • Requested document type
  • Intended use and build stage
  • NDA or controlled access status
  • Destination or compliance context when relevant

Approved public or request-required files

The team may provide the appropriate public preview, datasheet or document path.

Controlled access approval

Approved files are released through signed URL, expiring link or tokenized download link after review.

More context required

Requests may pause when SKU, subsystem, company, intended use or validation boundary is unclear.

Restricted or declined

Native CAD, full drawings, internal BOM and supplier-sensitive records may be unavailable or restricted.

Release method

Approved controlled files use reviewed release links.

When controlled access is approved, release may use a signed URL, expiring link or tokenized download link. Requests can still be declined or paused when the requested file is unavailable, the intended use is unclear, or the document is supplier-sensitive.

Boundary statement

File access approval is not system certification.

Engineering files are reviewed for sourcing and system integration context. File access approval does not certify the customer’s design, installation or final system validation.
