  • Dust, water, mud, UV, washdown or vibration exposure affects connector, enclosure or harness selection.
  • Cable glands, sealed pass-throughs, sleeves, conduit or strain relief must be reviewed together.
  • Serviceability and maintenance access could conflict with sealing or abrasion protection.

Key engineering decisions

Exposure target

Record the customer-supplied IP target and actual dust, mud, water, UV, washdown, chemical, vibration and shock exposure.

Connector and pass-through sealing

Identify connector sealing, gland type, enclosure pass-through, strain relief and mating-cycle requirements.

Harness protection path

Define sealed routing, protective sleeves, conduit, abrasion zones, crush risk and maintenance access.

Material context

Capture customer-supplied Viton, EPDM or other elastomer preferences and the cleaning or environmental reason for them.

RFQ preparation checklist

Include these inputs before asking for quote or document review.

  • Full enclosure drawings, internal BOM and supplier-sensitive files may require controlled access review.
  • Documentation does not certify ingress, chemical compatibility or field life.
